SIAL China 2009:
China Sets Trends In Innovative Milk Products

Eleven products from seven countries and regions were awarded the Trends & Innovations prize, presented during SIAL China in Shanghai on May 19-21, 2009. China’s Yili clinched three awards, as well as the “Special Award”.

First developed at SIAL Paris 10 years ago, the concept of Trends and Innovations Competition has been exported to SIAL shows in China and Montreal.

In its fifth edition at SIAL China, Trends and Innovations winners brought forward the groundbreaking success in the aspects of pleasure (new tastes, new textures, vegetal ingredients, and premium products), health, and new packaging (easy to cook; easy to handle).

The "Special Award" was given to the Chinese company Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group for its Chocolate Ice Cream product – perfect mix between ice cream and cookies with elaborated ingredients (suited to the Chinese market), packaged simply and practically as five units in a basket.

Among the 11 products awarded, three were from Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group.
